History
AlphaMirror was incorporated in 2005 by Elbit Systems (NASDAQ:ESLT), a leading developer, manufacturer and integrator of advanced, defense electro-optical systems, and AlphaMicron, a pioneer in switchable liquid crystal devices for eyewear applications.
For many years Elbit Systems evaluated the potential of defense technology implementation for mobile and vehicle electronic applications and searched for the unique platform that will differentiate Elbit's mobile and vehicle electronics from others. The Variable Attenuation Liquid Crystal Device (VALiD™) technology developed in conjunction with the US Air Force by AlphaMicron implemented for digital mirrors is an ideal combination of innovative mobile electronics in a proprietary platform.
Both companies leverage the core assets of the each other and their complementary technologies, know-how and market expertise. In the context of electro-optical applications for automotive and switchable digital mirrors, Elbit Systems brings a vast experience in the electro-optic field and system integration, while AlphaMicron brings unique technologies in the field of variable transmittance media and devices. |
